The feminist West

"But after Saddam Hussein's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, when women's rights were subverted in an attempt to gain clerical support for the Baathist regime, female literacy plunged from 75 percent to less than 25 percent." Of course, Western sanctions had nothing to do with this because the West is very feminist in its foreign policies in the Middle East as evidenced in its embrace of Saudi ruling family.
